Wackestones and Grainstones Geochemistry from Baturaja Formation, South Sumatra Province, Indonesia: Origin and Depositional Environment

Limestone members of the Baturaja Formation at Rambangnia Traverse in Sumatra are classified into wackestones, packstones, grainstones, and floatstones based on microfacies discrimination. This study compared geochemistry characteristics wackestones grainstones traverse to define their material origins sedimentation environment. A total ten samples were analyzed using XRF for 11 oxides 12 trace elements composition. The carbonates with a minimum fraction dolomite or magnesite. Clastic eroded Kikim is major impurity origin limestone without considerable sulfate content. wackstones signify higher detrital input rate contain more clay which increased during CaO separation than grainstones. Iron was lost through diagenesis while sodium precipitated directly from seawater. According V/Cr Cu/Zn ratios, deposited oxic condition studied have not been affected by post-depositional alteration characteristics.
